
A Wisconsin native, Dr. Gharia established Milwaukee’s first private practice Mohs Surgery Program by a fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon in 2004. Dr. Gharia was raised in Racine and attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He received his medical degree and completed his residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW).
Dr. Gharia completed a nationally and internationally acclaimed fellowship in Mohs surgery at the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles under Dr. Richard Bennett. Prior to moving back to Milwaukee, he was Director of Dermatologic Surgery at the University of Wisconsin, the birthplace of Mohs surgery. He is currently an Associate Clinical Professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he was formerly the Director of Dermatologic Surgery Education. He still teaches surgery to dermatology residents and medical students at MCW. He was formerly the Director of Dermatology Surgery at the Milwaukee VA Medical Center and was President of the Wisconsin Dermatologic Society.

Dr. Gharia is Board Certified in Dermatology and a Fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery. He has published and presented on Dermatology and
Dermatologic Surgery-related topics locally, nationally, and internationally and conducts clinical trials in skin cancer research. His latest publication is a chapter on Mohs surgery in the textbook: Practical Dermatologic Surgery in 2021.
